In the eighties of the previous century, the research workers of the former Academy of Agriculture and Technology in Olsztyn founded a small, pioneering company – Przedsiębiorstwo Badawczo-Wdrożeniowe OLMEX Sp. z o.o.. Its core activity was reactive power correction. At that time OLMEX was ahead of its time with the scope of services provided in Poland, since no one really thought about saving energy, and the term “reactive power compensation” was just beginning to take on meaning.

20 YEARS LATER

OLMEX S.A. is already a national leader on the Polish energy market.

OLMEX, so far a Limited Liability Company, enters the new century as a joint stock company.

Bearing in mind the demand of the Polish electricity market, OLMEX S.A. introduces high and medium voltage equipment to its offer.

Cooperation based on distribution agreements with companies such as Koncar Instrument Transformers Inc. (Zagreb / ​​Croatia) in the field of instrument transformers and Tridelta Meidensha GmbH (Hermsdorf / Germany) in the field of surge arresters, made OLMEX S.A. become a recognizable brand among suppliers of high-quality substation equipment.

In addition to conventional equipment, the company carries out deliveries that turn out to be too complicated for other suppliers, such as the delivery of the AGU-765 current transformer (insulation level 750/950/2100 kV) or the supply of combined transformers VAU-420 for 400 kV.

Continuous research on the market leads to establishing cooperation with the Japanese concern Hitachi, and then in 2008 signing the contract for the supply of a 16-bays GIS switchgear for the needs of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne. (Polish Power Grids) The contract was carried out in 2009. This was the first Hitachi GIS to be delivered to Europe!

2006 NEW HEADQUARTERS

The company moves to a modern newly built office and production complex in Wójtowo – just five kilometres from the border of Olsztyn.

2008 EXPANDING THE FIELD OF ACTIVITY

In order to meet the expectations of contractors, Olmex commences activities related to the implementation of energy investments on a “turn-key” basis.

The locations – Siemianowice Śląskie, Warsaw, Wrocław, Lublin and Łódź – is not accidental. Regional offices cover the entire territory of Poland.

The achievements of a proven company, boasting over 30 years of tradition, do not go unnoticed. OLMEX S.A. is a laureate of many industry awards. Among others, in 2005, the company was nominated for an economic award granted by the President of the Republic of Poland. Two years later, the company was awarded a nomination in the “Gazele Biznesu 2006” competition for very good financial results, dynamic development and reliability in business contacts. In 2007, during the ENERGETAB 2007 energy fair, the company received a distinction for an innovative product, and during the Electrotechnics fair – the award of the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Wałęsa.

In its activity, Przedsiębiorstwo Badawczo-Wdrożeniowa OLMEX S.A. it is not limited to economic and scientific activities. The company is also involved in numerous social and charity campaigns. Responsible management of quality and environmental aspects is an inherent feature of a modern enterprise. Taking this into account, in 2003 started working the implementation of the quality management system standards in the Company, and certificates confirming the effectiveness of the above-mentioned system were obtained in 2004. Over the years, this system has been modified and started to include other aspects of the company’s operation (environment, health and safety). At present, the integrated management system covers all these issues. The effectiveness of the conducted processes is confirmed by the fact of obtaining certificates issued by independent audit institutions.


Constant development

For many years, the company has been cooperating with foreign contractors and thanks to these contacts it gains access to the latest technologies. Once a year OLMEX S.A. arranges annual energy seminars for its contractors and partners. They are attended by guests who have a real impact on the shape of the Polish energy market.
